Austin Ulrigg

I am Austin Ulrigg, a mathematics student at the University of Washington. My current interests are in topological graph theory, graph embeddings, graph genus algorithms, and the ways people learn and do mathematics together.

This site is the main home for my research, writing, teaching, and tutoring. My recent work includes an undergraduate honors thesis on graph genera and minors, expository writing in graph theory, and a joint paper with Alexander Metzger on algorithms for graph genus.

Mathematical Values

I embrace Federico Ardila-Mantilla’s axioms:

  1. Mathematical potential is distributed equally among different groups, irrespective of geographic, demographic, and economic boundaries

  2. Everyone can have joyful, meaningful, and empowering mathematical experiences.

  3. Mathematics is a powerful, malleable tool that can be shaped and used differently by various communities to serve their needs.

  4. Every student deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.
